This course is the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This is a re-qualification course for the First Aid at work certificate. The aim of the course is to provide students with training in first aid and allow them the opportunity to achieve the Emergency Aid for the Appointed Person First Aid Qualification. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Emergency Aid for the Appointed Person First Aid Course (6 hours)
Explain the role of the appointed person
State the Cause of unconsciousness
Perform the recovery position on an unconscious casualty
Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Perform required choking procedures
Select and use various dressings to control bleeding
Identify safety precautions when assessing for danger
State the procedures for dealing with a casualty having a seizure
State the procedures for dealing with a diabetic casualty
State the procedures for dealing with a casualty who has a burn/scald
State the procedures for dealing with a casualty who has a stroke
State the procedures for dealing with a casualty who has a heart condition
Select necessary personal protective equipment or PPE

Aim of this course is to provide students with an overview of first aid principles in order to provide basic life support to the casualty in need. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Emergency Aid Course (4 hour course)
State the Cause of unconsciousness
Perform the recovery position on an unconscious casualty
Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Perform required choking procedures
Identify safety precautions when assessing for danger

The aim of this course is to provide students with the training to perform basic life support. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Basic Life Support Course (2 hours)
State the Cause of unconsciousness
Perform the recovery position on an unconscious casualty
Perform cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Perform required choking procedures

Suitable for anyone who works in an environment / alongside people who suffer from anaphylaxis. This course aims to provide the participant with the knowledge and skills to help deal with the management of a casualty experiencing a severe anaphylactic reaction.

An awareness test Infection Control Training (3 hours)
General introduction
Micro-organisms, infection, the chain of infection, pathogens, causative agents, transmission, way in/out and susceptible hosts.
Reducing the risk of infection
Standard precautions, risk assessment, personal/hand hygiene, PPE, blood and body fluids, equipment, environmental control, safe disposal of waste, safe handling of linen and appropriate case placement.
Putting it all together – managing and reducing the risk
Standards, documentation, quality assurance, management/worker roles and responsibilities, barriers to infection control, law/guidelines and Health Protection Agencies.
The PowerPointTM Presention (CD-ROM) can be used in place of traditional OHP transparencies. Containing interactive elements which allow the class to get involved, this CD helps you to provide an engaging training course.
